Columbia University’s School of the Arts Film Division seeks to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the Arts, specializing in screenwriting. The position commences fall 2008. The Division offers the M.F.A. degree with a strong focus on narrative film.
Screenwriting candidates should have extensive professional experience in feature screenwriting (preferably for both independent and commercial productions), an MFA in film or the equivalent, and teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Experience in television writing is desirable but not necessary. The Screenwriting Program is highly collaborative and intensive; the applicant must be qualified to oversee the development of feature-length screenplays and short scripts for student thesis films, mentor thesis work, and assist in the administration of the program.
