Under general direction from the AWWU Chief Fiscal Officer, coordinate effective inter-divisional activities between and among the AWWU Finance Division and other AWWU divisions to ensure smooth, timely, and effective work processing and timely preparation of monthly financial statements. Establish and maintain systems to ensure strong internal controls and separation of duties sufficient to protect AWWU’s financial resources. Research and analyze AWWU revenue and expense streams and timing to identify and resolve any unexpected fluctuations. Provide staff services in any area of the Finance Division operations. Make recommendations regarding the formulation of departmental accounting policies and procedures; maintain technical proficiency in governmental and utility accounting standards; implement new accounting standards and new modules of AWWU’s financial accounting system; and conduct complex research regarding different GAAP/NARUC issues. Assist with all aspects of AWWU annual capital budgetary process. Participate in numerous and varied special projects, respond to Authority Board requests for information, and coordinate and assist the AWWU department as needed to ensure the proper accumulation of reliable financial data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: to be eligible for consideration, the following education and experience must appear on your application:
1. Bachelor’s degree in planning, economics, accounting, engineering, business administration, public administration, or a related field; and
2. Five years of progressively responsible professional management, program administrative experience, and/or supervisory experience of technical staff.
SUBSTITUTION: 1. Additional experience as stated above may substitute for the educational requirments on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants who have experience using job specific software and equipment. Provide information of your skills, knowledge, and/or training of the following in your application.
