Assistant Field Services Manager

 

This is a Full-Time, Exempt position.  The Assistant Field Services Manager will direct and manage all activities related to the assigned projects to achieve the targeted growth and profit goals of the team while ensuring healthy relationships with clients.  Will report to the Project Manager.

 

Qualifications

 

Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Class B CDL; Completion of First-Aid, CPR and Competent Person Training as outlined in the Company Safety Policy. 

Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.

 

Education

 

Job related associates or bachelors preferred.  Prior relevant and intensive work experience as described below may substitute.

   

Experience

 

Minimum three to five years proven and progressive public works experience.  Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.  Must demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills and evidence a strong proclivity to interpret and analyze data.   The ability to devise and implement corrective strategies following issue identification is also necessary.

Responsibilities:

 

1.      Maintain strong relationships with clients, inspectors, suppliers and all other project related parties to assure that we are looked upon positively as a company.

2.      Overall Management of the quality and administration of each project.

·        All aspects of ACC’s contract.

·        Work order Management

·        Prompt punch-list closeout.

·        Change orders/Extras

·        Management of sub-contractors.

·        Management of snow removal.

·        Keep detailed and consistent daily logs.

3.      Efficient management of project equipment.

·        Assure general maintenance and daily walk-arounds are happening on a daily basis

·        Report time, needed repairs and available equipment to the shop on a regular basis.

·        Make sure the operators on the job are trained to use the equipment assigned to them and understand the responsibilities that accompany their position.

4.      Hold pre/post construction meeting with estimator, team manager, key foreman and operators on your projects to assure the scope of work and bidding methods are understood.

5.      Overall project/site safety.

·        Maintain a safe/clean work site.

·        Hold weekly toolbox safety meetings and site inspections.

·        Monitor safety practices of sub-contractors and hold them to ACC’s standards.

·        Only allow employees to work only if they have the proper PPE and are physically able to perform the work safely.

·        Teaching safe work habits.

6.      Manage the personnel on the project.

·        Assure that the project is not over/under staffed and that the people are qualified and motivated to be there.

·        Hire the necessary personnel for the project.  Follow up corporate procedures assuring that their paperwork and the results of a pre-employment drug screen have been reported prior to their start date.

·        Handle any separation of employment, be it a termination or resignation making sure that a termination notice is sent directly to human resources as well as all other documentation regulated to work performance.

·        Continually train employees on the job site through weekly safety/quality meetings and additional training as necessary.

7.      Understand the financial status of your project and track over/under-runs on labor, equipment, materials of subcontractors to that you are always aware of where you stand.  Seek the assistance of your manager when something appears to be out of line.

8.      Manage all paperwork related to the project and ensure the proper documentation is turned into the office on time.

·        Time sheets (equipment/personnel) are due in to the office by noon on Monday, including perdiem when applicable.  Prior to approval verify, the hours and cost codes.

·        Daily progress reports should be taken and turned into the office or placed in the project field on a daily basis.

·        Hire packets are due into the HR department on the Friday prior to the submittal of an employee’s first timecard.

9.      Hire, either directly or through subordinates as appropriate, the staff necessary to meet the team’s needs within the budgeted salary amounts.

10.  Purchase, or direct the purchasing, of all estimated material subcontracted work in an efficient and cost efficient manner.

11.  On-board/Off-board project personnel in coordination with the Project Manager.

12.  To purchase supplies or establish vendor accounts through the main office to construct the project within budget.

The ability to read and evaluate contracts, plan documents and regulations.Knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.Excellent verbal and written skills.Knowledge of construction safety practices.Ability to perform advance planning and scheduling of job tasks.Knowledge of concrete/asphalt grinding, grooving and searing.Ability to life items weighing 30 pounds while performing daily job tasks.Agree to participate in background checks.
