Assistant Director for Re-admissions

The Assistant Director for Readmission’ responsibilities include: working with current students who have expressed an interest in withdrawing to remain in school; encouraging students who have withdrawn from Brown Mackie College to return to school; assisting those students in preparing for successful re-entry that will maximize the student’s chances of completing school; and serving as the liaison between the re-entering student and the various school departments involved in the re-entry process.

The efforts of the ADR are paramount to the school’s retention effort.

The position is of a sales and marketing nature, and most closely resembles that of an Assistant Director of Admissions, but with the population of withdrawals serving as the prospective students.

Key Job Elements:

•           Participate in the exit interview process as the school employee to whom students who have expressed an interest in withdrawal are directed. Work with these students to address and resolve their situations in an effort to have them remain in school, and / or direct them to other employees as appropriate for help in resolving the situation. In the event that the withdrawal cannot be prevented, escort the student to the Registrar’s Office to initiate the withdrawal process. Complete the withdrawal process as the last "checkpoint" with the student, and discuss / schedule a possible re-entry date.

•           Canvass by mail and telephone all students who have withdrawn from the Art Institute during a given time period to be determined by the Director of Admissions. Determine former student’s current status and situation. Discuss and encourage re-entry to the Art Institute as appropriate.

•           Report / update former student information, regardless of re-entry status.

•           Schedule office / telephone appointments with former students interested in re-entry to review their status and requirements for successful re-entry. Assemble information regarding each potential re-entry into Readmissions file. Serve as coordinator / liaison with other school departments, including Student Financial Services, to complete the file and ensure that the re-entry student is prepared to begin classes. Attend periodic accountability meetings to review the re-enrollment process and problems in academic scheduling.

•           Advise re-entering students regarding their progress in the process of returning to school.

•           Advise other departments of the status of re-entry students via a weekly Readmissions Report.

•           Submit a daily record of Readmissions statistical activities for compilation into a weekly Readmissions Production Report.

•           Plan and coordinate registration and orientation activities for re-entry students.

•           Work with the Registrar’s Office to check and report monthly re-entry results.

•           Advise the Director of Admissions and Dean of Academic Affairs regarding information discovered as a result of Readmissions activity that may be important to the school’s retention effort.

•           Maintain and upgrade knowledge of the sales process by means of regularly scheduled training with the Director of Admissions.

Position Requirements:

•           Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

•           Customer service, problem-solving approach to work.

•           Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially listening skills.

•           Detail oriented, with ability to get former students to follow up on commitments.

•           Computer literate.
