Assistant Director/Associate Director Biostatistics (Clinical Neuroscience)** Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Collegeville, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) Job Summary Responsible for the overall statistical support for one or more key clinical projects. Individuals in this position would typically co-ordinate the activities of other staff members. They would be expected to take a role in cross-functional tasks (staff training, process improvement initiatives, development of working procedures) and to maintain a high level of professional activity, e.g., research leading to publications and presentations. They will be actively involved with company’s statistical strategic plans and will be expected to know, or be willing to pursue application of, some of the new approaches and statistical strategies. Individuals at this level will often be the departmental representatives on Clinical Project Teams. They will be responsible for the overall statistical support for one or more clinical projects. Individuals at this level may at times be called on to co-ordinate the data analysis activities of other staff members. In some cases, contribute as part of a team working on data analysis and reporting for other projects. Job Responsibilities Reviews and approves analysis plans (Clinical Development Plans, Statistical Analysis Plans, Protocol and Study Development, Statistical Analysis, Research Reports, Integrated Reports, Manuscripts, Regulatory Submissions) to ensure statistical rigor and that requirements for pooling of safety and efficacy data/information for the integrated summaries are met. Responsible for all statistical work within one or more major projects including ensuring timeliness and quality of statistical and programming deliverables according to project plans for assigned studies and projects. Demonstrate strong interest in statistical research activities including presenting novel methods on clinical trial development to internal and external audiences, to technical and non-statistical individuals. Biostatistical input in cross-functional project activities such as staff training programs, working procedures, and various clinical operations and Clinical Research and Development (CR&D) initiatives designed to improve efficiency and productivity. Technical supervision of individuals up to Principal Biostatistician level. Attend Clinical Review Committee (CRC) meetings as statistical contributor. Basic Qualifications At least a Bachelors Degree, preferably with a Biostatistics or Statistics major. At least 11 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree, 7 years of relevant work experience with a Masters Degree, or 5 years of relevant work experience with a Ph.D. Relevant experience includes statistical work with clinical trials including applied statistical - experimental designs, ANOVA, linear models, non-parametric, regression, correlation analysis, categorical data analysis, survival analysis. This work should be for pharmaceutical or biotechnology firms, clinical research organizations (CRO), or consulting to those entities. Experience working within the neuroscience therapeutic areas (pain, stroke, MS, Alzheimer’s, cognition, depression, anxiety) is preferred. Authoring of published articles on statistical methods in clinical development is desirable. Experience presenting to technical and non-statistical audiences.
