Position Description

 

Position:                          Assistant Branch Manager/Business Development

Department:                     Branch Administration

Immediate Supervisor:   Branch Manager

Reports To:                     Branch Administration

Status:                             Exempt

 

I.                    Summary

 

This position is responsible for branch operations, developing/maintaining the retail banking business of prospective and existing customers.  Assists the Branch Manager or Branch Administration by directing operational functions of the branch and branch activities in the manager’s absence.  Desired results must be exceptional, efficient, courteous and accurate.  Implements personal banking concepts through the deposit accounts, sale of loans, and other retail banking services.  Refers customers to appropriate bank and company departments for additional service.

 

II.                 Position Duties/Responsibilities

 

The duties and responsibilities associated with this position are as follows:

 

1.      Administrative/operation – oversees branch’s compliance with established policies, procedures, timely audit requirements and, efficient resolution to operational issues.  Maintains operational readiness of the branch, including supplies, file, records and maintains housekeeping and ground keeping.  Promotes security awareness and ensures that all security awareness and ensures that all security procedures are followed, implemented and maintained.  Has responsibility for the operational/procedural training of branch staff and conveys information and updates in a timely manner.

 

2.      Responsibilities / decision-making – Probes, listens assesses, recommends, and sells bank products and services.  Also, resolves customer relation’s issues through courtesy, respect and effective negotiation.

 

3.      Services deposit and loan accounts by assisting customers with loan applications, opening new accounts, cross selling services, offering customers financial advice, resolving problems, etc.  Is responsible for account retention.  In conjunction with the Branch Manager and Branch Administration, reviews job performance and makes  recommendations with regard to hiring and salary, and when necessary, discipline of subordinate branch personnel.

 

4.      Interviews customers who come into the bank seeking banking services.  Handles the details of the transactions.  Prepares debits, credits, signature cards, and other material.  Follows up to guarantee that all documents are completed and returned to assure customer satisfaction.

 

5.      Resolves customer problems.  Obtains information, researches records, and follows up on details to resolve the matter to the customer’s satisfaction.

 

6.      Assists in answering telephones or waiting on customers in the lobby and/or performing teller duties as needed.

 

7.      Advises and discusses with customers our products and rates, suggesting a strategy to obtain the best results based on individual desires and resources.

 

 

8.      Is accountable for thorough, accurate and timely work.

 

9.      Performs other duties as assigned.

 

III.               Position Relationship

 

Normal interaction with department members and supervisor.  Has extensive contact with customers in opening accounts and processing loans or other transactions.

 

IV.              Position Requirements

 

1.      High school diploma. Other courses related to retail banking and bank operations.

2.      Above-average human relations and communication skills and full knowledge of all retail banking services to proficiently sell the bank’s services.  Must have a general knowledge of other bank and company services in order to refer customers to those areas.
