The NextWave family of WiMAX digital baseband ASICs is the core of our WiMAX system architecture. NextWave ASICs are designed to accommodate a wide range of device types including mobile handsets, PDAs, mobile PC cards, USB devices, and CPE modems. We are also developing a family of customer-friendly device reference designs, including those for handsets and media players. These reference designs will take full advantage of the innovations built into our WiMAX ASIC products. The ASIC Physical Design Engineer will play an important role in the NextWave Semiconductor organization, and responsibilities will include:

Floor planning, I/O pad ring design, place and route, clock tree synthesis, power grid, power analysis/optimization Extraction, back annotation, signal integrity based timing analysis/closure LVS, DRC Interface with tool and IP vendors for day to day usage issues and for evaluation of new products
Experience and Skills:

BSEE or equivalent 5+ years of COT back-end experience including tape-out in 90nm technology or below. Detailed understanding of and hands on experience with floorplanning and I/O pad ring design Hands on experience with Magma, Synopsys and/or Cadence back end tools. Proficient in script writing: Perl, tcl, make, Linux/Unix shell script. Proficiency in analyzing reports from back end tools. Understanding of logic design and Verilog coding and analysis. Some understanding of CMOS circuit design and analysis. Strong written and oral communication skills. Self starter, Ability to work independently.
