ASIC Design Engineer – Principal Level/Technical Design Team Lead

** Candidate has the option to work from San Diego, Irvine or Los Angeles

Job Description:
• This senior-level job spans the areas of low-power ASIC architecture design, design and implementation of digital modem functionalities in RTL for low-power mobile applications, close support for physical design implementation of the ASIC, pre and post-silicon validation, and chip bring-up and characterization.
• The ideal candidate would lead a team of 3-4 ASIC engineers.

Required Skills:
• Highly skilled in Verilog/VHDL RTL design, simulation, and verification.
• Experience with full ASIC design methodology, logic synthesis, and timing analysis.
• Experience in the design and implementation of signal processing and baseband modem ICs.
• Ability to make architectural/design trade-offs for balancing performance/power/area.
• Experience with mapping system level requirements and algorithms to ASIC.
• Experience with multi-clocking and multi-Vdd/Vt strategies for low power applications.

Desirable Skills:
• Experience with digital PHY design portion of low-power WLAN/BT/Cellular chipsets.
• Experience with co-validation of ASIC designs on FPGA platform.
• Experience with I/O and Power/Ground planning.
• Experience with integration of analog/mixed-signal blocks (PLL, IOs, etc) into PHY ASIC.
• Experience in spice simulation, jitter/skew analysis, parasitic extraction, physical verification.

Education/Experience Requirements:
• Masters in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of working experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of working experience.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Strong technical leadership and self-motivation.
