Water & Power Technologies (WPT) a division of Earth Tech, Inc. is currently accepting qualified applicants for 1 full time position for a Applications Engineer in our Salt Lake City, Utah location.

 

 

Background:

Water & Power Technologies is a Salt Lake City-based water purification company, specializing in high-purity applications for industry and beverage. We use a range of technologies including clarification, micro and ultra filtration, media filtration, RO, resin-based demineralizers, and EDI.

 

Responsibilities:

Review Customer’s RFQ specifications and develop alternate Process Engineering & Design strategies to meet the requirements of the RFQ. Discuss and finalize the most optimum design and develop the PFD, which provides the best advantage against Competition’s perceived best design. This may include: Sequence of Unit Operations to meet final Water Quality Specifications Water Quality Parameters’ Profile at various stages of the Process Chemical and Power Consumption Charts Operating Costs including Chemicals, Power, Manpower and Replacements parts etc Key Operating Unit’s Performance data (RO, EDI, TOC Reduction UV, Oxygen Removal System, Carbon Towers, MF/UF or MMF etc) Develop preliminary Process & Instrumentation Diagrams to reflect Process Design Parameters and interactions. Review this with PM, Engineering, Sales & Service. This may include: Alarm Lists Sequence Matrix (Control Parameters) and Control Philosophy Pump Performance Curves Material Balances Pressure Drop Calculations Sizing and Material recommendations Forward these preliminary Process & Instrumentation Diagrams to Engineering for detail design and specifications, and Manage the overall integration of basic and detailed Engineering Develop detailed ELT/BOM in concert with Engineering and Project Management Groups Develop “Best Cost Estimate” in concert with Engineering, PM, and Purchasing Prepare Final Proposal in concert with Sales to capitalize on WPT strengths and Competitor’s weaknesses Manage Customer Submittals including support drawings and specifications Follow through with the Project during Negotiations and Execution Phases Write technical articles and Project Success Stories Technical support for sale team during customer presentations as required. Travel, mainly continental US, some international possible, typically <10% travel. Provide Process Applications training to internal and external candidates Requirements:

Experience/Education;

·         Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or related field with 3 years min experience in the area of assessing feasibility and generating proposals for clean water treatment systems.

·         Independent, self motivated, self-starter, independent thinking, problem solving team player.

·         Able to work in a team environment, strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.

·         Excellent conceptual problem solving skills-ability to access the ‘big picture’ and identify opportunities and implement major changes.

·         Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

·         Strong Environmental Health & Safety knowledge and ethics.

·        Driven by quality, cost and execution excellence - High energy and a drive for excellence - Demonstrated ability to set aggressive goals and targets and meet them - Embraces change as an opportunity.
