This is a contractor position for a Rockwell Automation Application Engineer, hired through a Rockwell third party vendor, offering competitive salary and benefits.
SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:
Under direction, participates in, and may lead projects of medium scope and complexity which have little prior definition, and effectively teams with functional experts to leverage resources. Responsible for the financial, applicable technology, and schedule performance of assigned projects within cost limitations and established standards. May coordinate proposal preparation, standards of work and specifications, estimation of product costs, and negotiation and administration of contracts. Assist in establishing milestones and monitoring adherence to program master plans and schedules. Help develop project controls and report data accurately to measure progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken, and ensure the meeting of commitments. Coordinate the performance of project functional-task elements. May act as primary contact for status and performance. Establishes strong customer relationships and contributes to forecasting, pricing, and competitive positioning.
§ Act on behalf of any other department members when they are away.
§ Serve as assigned on task forces and special committees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functional
§ Applies an advanced knowledge and draws upon breadth of experience to contribute to, and lead, projects that address technical/business problems.
§ Demonstrates a bias for action and issue resolution, and is accountable for meeting commitments and deadlines.
§ Evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering/scientific and business techniques, processes and criteria to analyze customer specifications, select appropriate equipment, design circuits, make price/cost estimates.
§ May be responsible for leading the system design by guiding generation of bills of material, panel layouts, cabinet design, wiring diagrams, purchase requisitions, test and installation instructions to provide a complete working job.
§ Coordinate and interact with customers, Manufacturing, Test, Drafting, Development, Sales Department as required for given tasks and projects.
§ Prepare cost estimates, and quotations for special systems and projects.
§ Demonstrates working knowledge of recognized project management processes and tools by planning, scheduling, establishing milestones, and conducting or coordinating detailed phases of the work for a project of medium scope with minimal prior definition and direction.
§ Assist Field Sales Offices in securing orders.
§ Prepare correspondence (written, phone, personal visits, as necessary) with field offices and/or customers to complete a job.
§ Is a strong contributor on innovative projects having significant impact on the business unit’s financial/operational performance.
§ Influences decisions having a business impact on multiple teams, programs, or projects.
§ Strong technical knowledge of Rockwell/Allen-Bradley products and electromechanical/solid state equipment.
§ Knowledge of RA procedures, paperwork, orderflow, pricing policies helpful.
§ Concern for details, exhibit the follow-through to complete assigned jobs, with attention to simplicity and at minimum cost.
§ Knowledge of specific machines/industries/processes.
§ Knowledge of the industry codes and standards.
§ Demonstrated ability to contribute to bringing new panel products to market through effective personal and team contributions.
§ Acts as contact for project status and performance.
