Job Description: The Merchandise Planning Manager is responsible for facilitating the development of seasonal plans that achieve financial goals and support merchandising strategies. Manage, react and adjust based on current trends to maximize sales and gross margin while ensuring inventory management. Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities: -Partner with cross-functional leaders to communicate division level financial merchandising plans and merchandise strategies to support the financial objectives -Develop/supervise, consolidate and communicate a comprehensive pre-season planning strategy that identifies opportunities and risks in all areas of responsibility -Work closely with Director of Planning and MVP to establish multi-departmental seasonal plan goals (sales, gross margin, department penetration, inventory turn and IMU%) -Strategize, develop and present seasonal department financial plans with Merchandising and Store Planning partners -Develop promotional and receipt flow strategies designed to attain seasonal goals with maximum profitability -Manage the in-season profitability of a department(s) by meeting or exceeding sales, managing inventory turn and maximizing gross margin goals -Partner with MVP and Sr.Director of Planning in identifying key business opportunities -Communicate updated corporate MMPR strategies to direct reports People Management: -Responsible for the selection, development and retention of team members -Mentors, coaches and counsels direct reports on performance expectations Position Requirements: -Bachelors degree, or equivalent, and 5-10 years of retail buying, planning or financial analysis experience -Results driven; strategic, conceptual and innovative thinker -Expert command of retail math concepts, applications and statistical analysis -Effective communication skills -Ability to develop realistic work plans, goals and schedules -Detail oriented, with excellent follow-through skills -Strong prioritization skills -Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills -Strong fashion sense, with an understanding of brand and client needs -Excellent organizational ability to support multi-tasking in a fast paced environment -Ability to work productively in a team environment -Broad based business acumen with the potential to grow in company -Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
