Job Description: Position Profile The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, is responsible for providing leadership oversight to Ann Taylor’s finance team while maintaining primary accountability for financial analysis of the Company’s performance, including fiscal/seasonal financial budgets, short-term and long-range financial projections, capital budgeting, decision support analysis and profit improvement recommendations. The position is also responsible for building long-term capability, processes and systems that will help enable Ann Taylor to achieve its goals for growth and shareholder value creation. This position reports directly to the Vice President - Financial Planning and Analysis. The Director - Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for managing all financial planning activities. This individual will also work with members of the senior management team on the development and evaluation of business plans and will work to significantly enhance financial analysis and decision-making processes across the organization. This individual will interface with the Divisions (mainly through the Divisional VPs of Finance) as well as all of the corporate functions to obtain input and to provide executive reporting. This is a hands-on position that requires strong analytical, quantitative, financial modeling, information technology and presentation skills. The individual will work closely with the Senior Management team on a variety of complex and sensitive issues. The individual is responsible for improving processes, driving change and increasing the efficiency of the organization. The Director - Financial Planning and Analysis will also be responsible for building alliances across the organization and working closely and persuasively with the organization leaders to obtain agreement for needed changes or to work together to come to mutually acceptable solutions. Other responsibilities include: Managing the seasonal and fiscal financial planning/budget process. Leading all short-term and long-range financial planning activities. Overseeing the weekly projection process. Improving the way business is done from a reporting and process standpoint. This individual will improve the quality of reports so that they add value and provide useful information on business drivers, competitive issues, etc. Working with Sourcing on cost of goods sold variance analysis. Ensuring financial systems support is sufficient, well controlled and appropriate in meeting the needs of the business, including working with the SAP implementation team. Building, developing and leading a financial team focused on financial analysis, modeling and planning activities. Developing and reviewing capital expenditure and new product launch proposals including timelines, costs, deliverables, and tracking actual vs. projected performance. Supporting the Company’s efforts to identify and implement cost saving ideas. KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance - MBA and/or CPA preferred. The successful candidate will bring superior analytical, technical and interpersonal skills which include: At least 10 years of experience, in roles of increasing responsibility within the finance function of an organization(s), with strong skills in financial planning/analysis, modeling, systems, accounting and reporting. Some background in the retail or consumer packaged goods industries would be a plus. Ability to work as a business partner with all business units, corporate and executive leadership is essential. Individual must be able to direct the work of others (with no direct line authority) in gathering, analyzing and reporting of different types of information. Strong intellectual/analytical/quantitative capabilities and business acumen that drive decisions at both strategic and tactical levels. Ability to prioritize and have a sense of urgency for those critical tasks that will be most impactful. An ability to build a strong, inclusive finance organization, including recruiting, coaching and developing a pipeline of talent within their discipline, and effectively managing a staff as well as displaying strong motivational and leadership skills.
