    Maintain and monitor the health, production, post-operative care and physical environment of a laboratory research facility.  Work with veterinarians and researchers while performing specialized techniques and procedures with the study of animal models infected with hazardous biological agents.  Perform duties involving specialized BSL3 safety methods, procedures and sanitation of animal environments.  Use appropriate barrier techniques and apply knowledge of quarantine, isolation and containment procedures pertinent to BSL3 required to prevent cross infection of animals during experiments and to prevent infection of the technicians and/or coworkers.  May perform veterinary technical procedures to inculde: sentinel collection and animal treatment under veterinary guidance.  Perform isolator husbandry to include: feeding, watering, changing cages and other duties as assigned.  May be responsible for monitoring of breeding colony program.  Strictly maintains and follows complex procedures as assigned under BSL3 containment rooms.
