Description: Partners HealthCare System offers paid, 12-week summer internships in a variety of Information Systems departments. At Partners, Partners Continuing Care (PCC) is the Non-Acute Care Services Division of Partners HealthCare System headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. As a key part of Partners integrated health care delivery system, Partners Continuing Care is dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of rehabilitation, long term acute care, skilled nursing and home health care services to patients and their families. The Rehab Services division of PCC represents Spaulding Rehab Hospital and Rehab Hospital of the Cape and Islands. The Rehab Services Information Systems Department is a team of 13 highly skilled professionals with the challenging responsibility of managing and understanding the needs of two distinct hospitals each with their own culture and unique information system needs.
Both hospitals use a vendor supported HIS system called Meditech. One of the features in Meditech is a function called `spooling. Spooling allows reports to be scheduled and printed at specific days and times. There is a need to document, validate, and update the current spool settings at both facilities. This will require that the intern meet with report recipients to verify that the data is still needed, update the report specs if necessary, determine if assigned printers are still on the network, analyze utilization of large reports and make recommendations for alternate print times, and rebuild the spool tables in a way that is more intuitive for ongoing maintenance. Qualifications: - Undergraduate student in computer science, information systems, or business
- Strong analytic skills -- of particular importance is the ability to understand the concept of relational tables and to have ability to propose a better design after investigation phase is complete
- Good interpersonal skills -- must be able to request meetings and gather information from staff at multiple levels
- Documentation skills -- must be able to capture the information learned each day in a way that is easily understandable
- Must have transportation to both locations (Boston and Sandwich, MA) Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience Job Location: Boston, MA Job Number: 1711 Company URL: http://www.partners.org Company Profile: Founded by Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, Partners HealthCare is a network of integrated hospitals and physicians providing cutting-edge patient care, teaching, and research.
