Metropolitan Airports Commission

Position Description: The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is seeking an Airport Planner to manage comprehensive planning at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and its system of six Reliever Airports.  This position directs, prepares and supervises the development of complex planning studies for the development and improvement of airport properties and facilities; updates long-term comprehensive plans, airport zoning maps, and ordinances.  This position works closely with MAC's Airport Development and Environment departments to prepare Airport Master Plan updates.  MAC is an award-winning international airport with a dynamic work environment and an excellent benefits and compensation package.

Minimum Requirements: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or ten years of progressively responsible planning experience;  five years experience with aviation planning; a thorough knowledge of FAA aviation design standards; thorough knowledge of federal regulatory requirements applicable to airport planning criteria, standards and programs; the ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships; strong analytical and problem solving skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to effectively and professionally present information in front of large groups and facilitate large group discussions; the ability to prepare and interpret maps, graphs diagrams, and legal descriptions.

Desirable Requirements: Master's degree in a related field; thorough knowledge of MnDOT aviation design standards; thorough knowledge of state and local regulatory requirements applicable to airport planning criteria, standards and programs; thorough knowledge of state and local zoning rules and regulations and processes; familiarity with Minnesota Eminent Domain process; Hub-airport planning experience; background and understanding in Property Appraisal Valuation; experience working with major air-carriers; experience preparing Request for Proposal (RFP) documents; and experience using GIS or AutoCADD software.
