The Systems Engineering, Training and Security Operation (SETSO) currently has an opening for a Aircraft Flight Planning Specialist.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The selected applicant will be a member of a remotely located team of government and contractor aircrews, maintainers, and analysts and is expected to make an immediate contribution to the team. The applicant must successfully integrate with a highly skilled team of engineers and analysts in support of threat research, and mission planning, execution, analysis and reporting of test and operational data. The applicant will report to an onsite manager and work with technical members of the USAF. The individual will be responsible for evaluating government provided intelligence data, developing mission plans and will also be responsible to establish and evaluate mission planning requirements and software tools. Candidates must demonstrate a flawless ability to develop, maintain, and protect classified information in accordance with appropriate DoD directives. The candidate must be prepared to work a dynamic schedule that fluctuates to meet the mission needs and may include weekends, night hours, and long duration shifts. The individual must possess a valid DoD TOP SECRET and must qualify for SCI and SAP/SAR clearances. The position involves the evaluation and operation of government developed aerospace mission planning systems, communication networks and support equipment, while maintaining a secure work environment. Candidates must be able to systematically evaluate system components and missions and report findings to senior government officials. The position involves frequent interaction with customers and functional peer groups.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline from an accredited university and a minimum of 5 years analytical application preferred but not mandatory. Equivalent experience (10 years) in government flight test and/or air operations will be accepted. Experience with military flight operations, intelligence, combat mission planning and tactics and weapons employment a plus. Must be competent with Intelligence community products and at least one mission planning software tool. Must be competent with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Must have demonstrated an ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Must be competent with PFPS, CFPS, Falconview, and JMEM. Must have demonstrated an ability to complete assignments with little supervision, work with technical teams to an end goal, and perform training to small groups. Must have good written and oral communications skills. Willing to work flexible hours (including other-than first-shift) and travel as required up to one week per quarter. DoD TOP SECRET required and must qualify for an SCI and SAP/SAR positions.
DESIRED SKILLS: Working knowledge of MS Windows application programming, LINUX/UNIX script development and a system administration level knowledge of PC and UNIX computer networks. A thorough understanding of the key factors in aircraft survivability and mission planning. Experience working with the intelligence community. Familiar with methods of flight test or scientific investigation. Experience using standard DoD engineering or mission-level models, including ALARM, AMBER, SUPPRESSOR or JIMM.
