There is one job vacancy available for an AFP Screening Program Coordinator in the Department of OB/GYN.

Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Daily reporting of positive Expanded AFP Screening Test results to assigned area providers, followed by giving authorization for follow-up perinatology services funded by the State of CA Department of Public Health, Genetic Disease Screening Program.  Daily calls to area providers to obtain missing interpretation information or to report the inability to interpret and need to redraw a specimen.  Management of the assigned caseload of authorized referral cases as directed by the protocols mandated by the DHS GDB.  Professional Teaching Presentations about the AFP Program to area providers and their staff.  Travel to Richmond, CA for State Genetic Disease Screening Program conferences and coordinator meetings.

Requirements/Experience:
B.A./B.S./B.S.N. as a minimum, masters level or above preferred in one of the following areas: Genetic Counselor (board eligible or board certified), Registered Nurse (with experience in OB/GYN or Pediatrics, or Medical Genetics), Medical Social Worker with experience in Medical Genetics, Psychologist, or other related health care professional (such as M.P.H.), preferably with experience in Medical Genetics and/or Pediatrics.  Experience in contract-funded professional work/projects helpful.  Public speaking and teaching experience also helpful.  Bi-Lingual (especially Spanish) helpful.  Accurate typing and basic computer skills required.

Physical Demands:
Sighted.  Able to walk, stand, lift without assistance from others.  Own transportation to be used when traveling to give XAFP presentations to community OB providers.
