Advertising Sales Representative

Landmark Military Newspapers of Texas, Inc.

Description: This position is responsible for sales of high quality advertisements that appear in The Fort Hood Sentinel (both print and online).  This position must develop effective business relationships with advertising customers to promote their products and services to the readers of The Fort Hood Sentinel. As a member of the advertising team, the Advertising Sales Representative provides their respective business territory and clients with high quality advertising, good business results, and high customer satisfaction. This position achieves high revenue generation goals and is a valuable contributor to growing the business in a quality, ethical, and principled manner. This position will maintain a close and effective working relationship with the graphic design team, sales team, and the General Manager and advertising customers to ensure a high-quality newspaper (print and online edition) is produced on schedule and profitable revenue is generated.

Essential Functions:

·          Develop respective territory and clients through effective research and prospecting.

·          Establish very good business relationships and able to continuously demonstrate a positive cost/benefit value to advertisers.

·          Become a trusted, reliable and highly credible strategic partner for area businesses on advancing their goals; Provide good consultation for annual advertising strategy and targets.

·          Establish, track, and assess revenue goals, and adjust activities accordingly to achieve positive results.

·          Provides excellent customer service

·          Effectively and efficiently meet sales and ad copy deadlines.

·          Help others when and where needed to improve results.

·          Participate in promotional and marketing activities for advancing in the quality, reach and readership of the CE newspaper

·          Work independently in achieving great results. 

·          Communicates well with the advertising customers, sales team, graphic design team, and business office manager.

·          Adheres to all corporate policies and procedures in the conduct of the business.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·          4 year college degree in marketing, business, or related field

·          Conducts professional sales in an ethical and principled manner.

·          Great interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills

·          Previous successful sales experience; demonstrated track record of growing profitable revenue and customer counts

·          A strong demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service and understanding the value and importance of becoming a strategic partner with advertising customers.

·          Able to perform effective research to demonstrate cost/benefit value to customers.

·          Good analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

·          Excellent time management and organizational skills

·          Willing to work a flexible schedule when necessary. 

·          Self Motivated and detail oriented

·          Works well under pressure and with rigid deadlines.

·          Works well in a team based environment

·          Proficient with use desktop or laptop computer and use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint); familiarity with newspaper production programs and systems

·          Adheres to all corporate policies and procedures in the conduct of the business.

Preferred Qualifications:

·          Previous media sales experience – newspaper, online, other print publications, radio, TV,  or phone book
