We are seeking experienced Instructors at our new campus, the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, A private Two-Year College, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts:

Adjunct Food Science/Nutrition Instructor


In the Food Science/Nutrition course the student learns safe kitchen procedures and the causes of food spoilage and food borne illness. Legal responsibilities and practical implementation of safe and sanitary food service are taught. Students are prepared to take the ServSafe examination course at the end of this course. Students also become familiar with the principles of nutrition and their relationships to food preparation and health. The structure, functions, and sources of nutrients, including protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals are taught. Current issues such as dietary guidelines, energy balance, vitamin supplements; food trends and chronic diseases are reviewed.

Food Science/Nutrition courses are taught Monday through Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm for students enrolled in the morning program and 6:00pm-8:30pm for students in the evening program. This course is taught over three weeks. Our next quarter semester in which Food Science/Nutrition will be taught begins on May 19, 2008 and a new cohort of students will begin every three weeks.

Responsibilities:
Faculty is responsible for instructing students in accordance with College policy and procedure.
Responsible for advising students concerning course matters and offering outside assistance and/or tutoring as needed.
Maintain office hours.
Faculty may be responsible for developing curriculum, course outlines, tests, quizzes and grading criteria.
Responsible for maintaining professional competence and participating in professional development activities.
Assignments may include day/evenings weekends.
Handle all student concerns and comments regarding courses to the satisfaction of the students and Director of Education.
Maintain satisfactory student course evaluations after the end of each General Education course.
Ensure that grades are turned in to the Registrar and reported to the students within three to four class days after the end of the class.
Ensure that make-ups and re-takes in classes are handled per LCB policies and procedures.
Perform any other duties requested by the Director of Education or the President of the College.

Requirements:
Must be ServSafe Instructor certified or be prepared to sit for the exam immediately.

Bachelor degree required.
Teaching experience at the Secondary or Post-Secondary level preferred.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Good computer skills.
Must be sensitive to student population, flexible and able to follow policies and procedures.
