The Apache Coordinator oversees all activities related to the Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) III program.  In this role you will accurately collect data that yields APACHE III scores, for the production and dissemination of reports, and for the education of APACHE III users.  Other duties include:

*  Develop and support quality assessment and improvement efforts related to critical care.

*  Coordinate the implementation of the APACHE III Critical Care Management System.

*  Review the medical record to abstract data utilizing the APACHE III methodology and enter data into the APACHE III database for prospective and retrospective review of APACHE III scoring.

*  Participates in real-time and retrospective auditing process to assure quality of the data.

*  Facilitate integration of APACHE III concurrent and retrospective data into the daily practice of the ICU Health Care Team as an outcomes management strategy.

*  Produce, disseminate and interpret critical care resource management reports, both routine and ad-hoc.

*  Identify opportunities to integrate APACHE data with other hospital information and information systems.

Qualifications:
1.  Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or eligibility for licensure in the state, is required.
2.  A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or a related field is required.  A Master's degree is preferred.
3.  A minimum of 3 years of critical care experience and 2 years experience in data collection and statistical analysis, report interpretation and report writing is required.
4.  Prior training experience is desired.
5.  Knowledge of microcomputer applications including word processing and database management is required.
6.  Demonstrated progressive experience and responsibility for clinical system implementation projects.
7.  Excellent problem-solving skills.
