Overall responsibility to advance key projects critical to International’s short term financial objectives and longer term growth plans. Responsible for aiding in Economic Capital Methodology transformation which will impact pricing, performance and risk management.  Analysis of organic and inorganic growth opportunities – new products, markets (e.g., retirement income, reverse mortgages, medical).

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Economic Capital - assist the countries in calculating and adopting the new EC framework.  Translate the overall EC framework for applicability to International specific businesses.  Help test and introduce economic pricing and performance measurements consistent with the new methodology.

2. Product Innovation - assist in researching product opportunities, review country business cases,  and prepare financial analysis to determine which products and markets to pursue (e.g. reverse mortgages, payout annuities, medical).  

3. Product Metrics - develop performance measures (and external benchmarks) for asset intensive businesses (e.g., hedging success of variable annuities).  

4. Financial support of Acquisitions, JV's, and Partnerships - including valuation support, capital strategy, and return analysis, and reasonability of assumptions.  Development of Performance metrics and a monitoring process.  Work will apply to selected deals.

Dimensions:

• Technical Support actuary for acquisitions, which will contribute over $500 million of earnings by 2012.
• Develop innovative products which can add $100 million of earnings by 2012

Job Requirements
• FSA or Equivalent
• Working Knowledge of Corporate Finance and Capital Markets
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non technical audience
• Sound business judgment to supplement financial skills (e.g., integrating marketing and finance)
