The Accounts Payable Manager and Data Analyst is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounts payable staff to ensure timeliness of bill paying, tax reporting in compliance with federal and state regulations, withholding and payment of tax liabilities, monitoring of internal control standards and the development of analytical reports. This position provides user training and support to campus departments on vendor/payment business processes, and accessing and understanding financial information. The position requires interaction with many academic and financial areas of the campus and requires close coordination with campus and off-campus governmental, financial and technical staff. It requires expertise in the official University accounting system, standard accounting practices and procedures, as well as knowledge of the many Federal, State, and Trustee regulations, policies and procedures.
Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting/Finance with a high level of computer literacy, or commensurate degree and/or experience. Supervisory experience. 5-7 years of experience in accounts payable and/or financial reporting/operations. Proven knowledge and experience in accounting principles, financial operations, regulatory requirements and internal controls. In-depth knowledge and expertise in federal tax regulations.
Extensive experience with automated accounting, purchasing and accounts payable systems, with PeopleSoft/Oracle experience preferred. Proven skill in designing and developing analytical reports to support financial operations. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with strong interpersonal skills. Experience in Higher Education, government or non-profit organizations preferred.
