Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and manage the monthly submission of all states Sales and Use tax reporting and payments. Ensure that payments are processed so as to meet all deadlines.
· Oversee all Sales and Use tax audits as scheduled.
· Manage all correspondences of inquiries from Sales and Use tax authorities.
· Research and resolve all Sales and Use tax issues as they arise.
· Monitor Sales and Use tax treatment on invoices to ensure company compliance. Communicate with division and store personnel to make constructive suggestions on improved invoice coding.
· Work with direct reports to develop staff with their knowledge of understanding and communications skills. Develop associates analytical responsibilities. Develop associates interview and management skills. Promote teamwork.
· Take leadership roles to facilitate internal training.
· Oversee seasonal budgeting for assigned accounts.
· Manage the review of monthly analysis on all assigned accounts. Ensure staff accountants work with and support assigned Expense Champions. Lead staff to highlight and implement process improvements.
· Review assigned general ledger reconciliations on monthly basis. Assist with the reconciliation of general ledger accounts as needed.
· Perform account reviews and monthly variance analysis, as assigned.
· Understand process flows of data into the general ledger and used in regulatory reporting and work towards improving processing efficiencies. Strive to eliminate manual functions and re-keying.
· Oversee the monthly bank reconciliation of assigned bank accounts.
· Supervise the non-customer A/R including, but not limited to, NSF checks, and fixture co-op.
· Manage the balance sheet accounts associated with the various assigned Gift accounts.
· Manage the accounts associated with the Vendor Compliance reserve and income. Manage the quarterly review analysis of the Vendor Compliance reserve and propose adjustments as needed.
· Support the accounting for the various Distribution Centers. Partner with all owners to understand variances on a monthly basis.
· Support Tax Departments with entries to reflect state tax entity accounting.
· Manage assigned SOX documentation and key controls.
· Oversee that all processes and account policy & procedure documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
· Participate in the departmental recruiting effort in a leadership role (interviewing, campus events, etc.)
· Complete ad hoc financial analysis as requested
· Work with State Auditors and State Revenue Personnel and 3rd Party Sales/Use tax preparer.
Education & Experience
Four Year Degree – Accounting or Finance is requiredSales/Use Tax regulatory experience is requiredCPA (preferred)Two–four years general ledger experience (Supervisory experience preferred)Hyperion/Essbase preferredPlease ONLY qualified & experienced Accounting/Finance professionals apply!!
