ACCOUNTING MANAGER/CONTROLLER
An opening is immediately available for an Accounting Manager with an engineering & consulting firm. The firm provides engineering services for public works projects for California cities and special districts such as water and sanitation districts. The firm is looking for an energetic person with computer skills and supervisory experience. Salary will commensurate with experience. (Range $85K to $108K). Benefits include company paid health Insurance, dental Insurance, vision care Insurance, and STD/LTD Insurance. The company also has incentive bonus, 401K, and profit sharing plans. The duties include the following:
Manage & monitor budgeting, auditing, tax, accounting, purchasing, leasing, employee benefits, insurance, and other accounting and financial activities.Manage accounting procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls.Direct activities as custodian of funds, securities, and assets.Review the cash position recommends investment alternativesAppraise the financial position and produces monthly financial reports.Negotiate and procure insurance packagesAssist the officers and department heads with financial budget reports related to contracts and projects.Manage accounts payable and receivables according to contractual terms.Ensure timely recording of accounting data and timely processing of accurate processing of payroll.Manage production of weekly project accounting and cash reports, weekly job cost reports, and bi-weekly staff utilization report.Provide the outside accounting firm monthly/quarterly accounting data in support of preparation of required taxes and for tax planning.Provide coordination with and supports other administrative functions. Manage employee benefit programs, such as health and life insurance plans, and 401 (k)/profit sharing plans. Assist employees with insurance claims. Review hiring, firing, and layoff recommendations from department heads and makes recommendations and review the financial impact of actions. Performs such other duties as the President/CEO and other Officers may deem require.
. The education, experience and skills required are as follows:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance Relevant professional experience – engineering, construction or similar service industry with 10-20 years experience. CPA a big plus. Knowledge of government contract and labor laws also a big plus.Above average computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word. Candidate must have ability to learn and work with project accounting software such as Deltek or equivalent is critical.Communication and people skills, ability and willingness to learn, and willing to take multiple assignments.******
