PRIMARY FUNCTION(S):
The position for a Senior Accountant is a "hands on" function and is responsible for accounting system, project and financial reporting and analysis, and support for budgets and forecasting in a government contractor environment. The candidate must have excellent skills in multi-tasking and have a full understanding of the accounting cycle, financial reporting and government contracts. Responsible for maintaining integrity and accuracy of automated accounting financial and contract reporting system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for day to day maintenance, administration and problem solving related to our automated accounting system software. Ensure the integrity of the system. Responsible for monthly and year-end closing process assuring integrity of the data. Prepare journal entries, analyses and G/L account reconciliations. Support monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting. Key role in implementation of Accounting System updates and modules. Maintain accounting software program processes and reports and ensure the integrity of the system. Develops controls within the accounting system for financial and project control system. Support for monthly project and financial reporting as required by operations management. Work with Finance & Admin Manager to develop a mechanized monthly financial/business reporting system and review, analyze and report on operational results. Support monthly invoice process. Prepare analysis of monthly invoices and month-end receivables report. Monitor cash receipts and open receivables. Analyze company revenue by customer, type, etc. Provide user support and user training on automated systems as appropriate. Establish policies and procedures in support of accounting system and financial reporting. Provide support for the preparation of an annual budget. Actively interface with external audit firm and or Director of Business Operations for government audits as needed (work with Finance & Admin Manager-- to review the annual audit plan and reports to ensure a high degree of final audit quality. Assist in special projects as requested.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
..Bachelors Degree with minimum of five years experience. Masters degree preferred.
..Government accounting experience.
..Strong organization and communication skills, detail oriented and professional in their dealings with external and internal customers.
..Significant hands-on expertise with general ledger accounting, financial and management reporting, timekeeping and expense reporting, project costing, budgeting and financial systems implementation and maintenance.
..Proficient in use of PC and software applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook.
..Experience with automated financial software and timekeeping systems experience preferably Deltek.
..May be required to secure a US government clearance.
