AEGON USA Realty Advisors, an AEGON company, is a leader in the worldwide insurance industry for over 40 years.  AEGON is an international pension, insurance and financial services organization.  Realty Advisors is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where approximately 3200 individuals are employed.

This position will be located in the AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC., which oversees asset management for AEGON USA's operating companies.. Asset classes include public bonds, private placements, commercial mortgage loans, equities and alternative investments. Significant funds are invested in nearly every fixed income and equity sector. Offices are located in Cedar Rapids and Louisville, Ky. 

The Investment Division of AEGON USA has an opening within the Special Accounting team for an Accountant II.  The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of unique accounting processes.  As a member of the Special Accounting Team, the successful candidate would actively help support our $120 Billion investment portfolio.

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

·        Analyze income trend variances and present results and explanations to management.

·        Reconcile GAAP, STAT, IFRS, accounting bases between various source systems to the general ledger.

·        Prepare quarterly reconciliations and reporting for the AEGON USA employee pension plan for internal and external customers. 

·         Process advanced accounting transactions involving mergers and troubled debt restructures.

·        Analyze and document results of updating structured securities prepayment assumptions.

·        Lead and document accounting system functionality testing.

This position requires professional, proactive, and effective communication with internal and external customers and contacts to ensure that business issues are collaboratively resolved for the success of the company.  The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following skills:

·        Strong organization and prioritization abilities

·        Ability to work individually or as part of a team to meeting deadlines, complete assigned tasks, and contribute to the overall success of the team or department.

·        Independent problem-solving for moderately to very complex problems

The ideal candidate will have a four year degree in accounting, finance, or related business degree with two to four years of experience, proven success in a team environment, and proficient with MS office products.  Additional experience with securities or financial services is also preferred.
