AEGON USA Realty Advisors, an AEGON company, is a leader in the worldwide insurance industry for over 40 years.  AEGON is an international pension, insurance and financial services organization.  Realty Advisors is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where approximately 3200 individuals are employed. 

The Investment Reporting area within the AEGON USA Investment Division is seeking an Accountant II to join the Impairment Reporting Team in Cedar Rapids, IA.   This is a great opportunity for an individual to gain exposure to investment reporting implications of stock and bond pricing movements due to issuer specific credit concerns; credit spread changes and/or interest rate pressures.  The individual will work with front office as necessary to gather appropriate documentation to support the Company's position on bonds and stocks with unrealized losses, process impairment related entries, and lead or assist in special projects.  The individual may also help the Impairment Reporting Team in ensuring adequate documentation of internal controls, participate in financial or operational projects which support our strategic goals to improve management information and re-engineer our business processes to gain efficiencies.  The position may also include some accounting research related to impairments.

This position requires professional, proactive, and effective communication with internal customers and contacts to ensure that business issues are collaboratively resolved for the success of the company.  The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following skills:

*Four year accounting or finance degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

*Proficient with MS Office products

*Independent problem-solving for basic to moderately complex problems

*Experience in the securities or financial services industry preferred

*A candidate has or is in pursuit of a CFA or CPA designation is preferred.
