Account Manager, Conde Nast Publications- Fairchild Books Division The Fairchild Books Division, a premier educational publisher of books in fashion, textiles, and interior design, is currently seeking a college sales representative to market and sell Fashion and Interior Design textbooks to two and four year colleges, career and propriety schools, and high schools in the United States. The two million dollar territory base has key accounts located in the NYC/NJ area. We are looking for a diligent sales representative to maintain the current business, and grow the territory base as well. As an inside sales representative for the books division, you will be responsible for phoning professors, instructors, department chairs, Deans, Director’s, high school teachers, and Book store managers to sell Fairchild texts that would be appropriate for their educational and academic needs. In addition, you will host book fairs, meet with key decision makers and faculty, which will all result in establishing rapport and relationships with your clients, in addition to maximizing your sales efforts in your territory. The sales territory will be comprised of the following states: Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Nevada. 70% of the selling will be done over the phone where you will have over 4,000 professor contacts. 30% will be done outside of the office where you will host book fairs, meet with professors regarding their course curriculum and book needs. There are two conferences a year (March and November), which you would attend with the editorial and sales groups which are ITAA (International Textile and Apparel Association), and IDEC (Interior Design Educators Conference) to recruit authors, and assist with the exhibit booth where your clients will be visiting to discuss their book needs for spring and fall courses. Travel to Nevada is once a year in April, and the remaining travel is local.
Qualifications Bachelors degree required Publishing experience preferred, but not required.
Higher Education publishing experience a plus
Business to Business inside sales experience, outside sales experience a plus
Ability to communicate information effectively
