CLASS SUMMARY
The Quality Control Reviewer works under supervision and is responsible for
reviewing and analyzing client case records to determine eligibility for
assistance programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and
agency policy.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
1. Receives cases and reviews and verifies case records regarding food
stamps, employment, welfare payment history, and unemployment insurance
claims.
2. Interviews clients in their homes noting surroundings, living
arrangements, and lifestyle and interviews family members, neighbors, and
school personnel to verify all factors of eligibility.
3. Contacts and/or visits banking institutions, insurance companies, and
employers to verify available resources.
4. Researches court and court house records including tax and real estate
records, child support payments, and wills to determine additional
resources, income, and assets.
5. Documents and reviews information collected during field investigation and
ensures compliance with state and federal laws in determining client
eligibility.
6. Prepares summary of case findings to explain reasons for changing
eligibility rights regarding errors or denied benefits.
7. May testify in fair hearings to justify investigation findings.
8. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Quality Control Reviewer has regular contact with agency personnel,
clients, banking institution personnel, school officials, court personnel, and
the general public.
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS
Frequent in-state travel is required. Occasional overtime work during field
investigations may be required.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of state and federal laws and agency policies and procedures
relating to eligibility for assistance programs.
Knowledge of basic mathematics.
Ability to interpret and apply eligibility guidelines and regulations.
Ability to interview, investigate, and document information pertinent to
eligibility determination.
Ability to analyze case records to determine compliance with program
specifications and recommend appropriate remedial action.
Ability to prepare and present oral and written information and reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in sociology,
psychology, or a related field; plus one year of experience in social service
related work.
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or
part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Qualifications Review
Committee.
