SUMMARY:
A growing Workers' Compensation insurance carrier is seeking an energetic, well-organized individual to conduct loss control surveys in Anchorage, Alaska.

JOB PURPOSE:
The Safety Professional at Amerisafe, Inc. is an individual who conducts safety surveys of prospective and current insureds of American Interstate Insurance Company and Silver Oak Casualty as directed by the underwriting and loss ratio departments.
POSITION FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess the insurability of the client and provide a detailed report of their work environment.
Assess the current safety program in use by the client and determine if it is appropriate for the risk based on factors such as the potential for catastrophic loss, size and loss history.
Observe the client's work site(s) to determine the existence of appropriate controls for the exposure of the type of business. If there are deficiencies which pose a high potential for worker injuries, the employee will write detailed descriptions of the problems and propose a solution to improve the clients safety environment.
Select appropriate safety information, if it exists, to be sent to a client to assist in complying with recommendations made and/or reinforce the need for the actions.
Schedule work according to the requested due dates of survey requests.
Travel, as required, via personal vehicle to client's place of business and be prepared to spend as much as three (3) nights per week, on average, away from home. Occasional out of territory support for up to two weeks may also be required.
Survey requests are received and returned via computer, therefore adequate computer literacy is required to be able to perform the required computer functions after training on the system during in-processing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Safety-related college degree if preferred but candidates with proven experience in field of safety will be considered.
Possess professional attitude and appearance
Good computer and typing skills
Have or be able to acquire a reliable means of transportation to travel to all assigned customer work sites.
Maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record
Must be familiar with industry safe work practices and OSHA's General Industry and/or Construction standards.
